Some claim “Jesus is our Sabbath” using Matthew 11:28, Hebrews 4:9–10, and Colossians 2. But let’s slow down and actually read what the texts say. Matthew 11:28 — Jesus says, “I will give you rest,” not “I AM your Sabbath.” The Greek word for rest is anapausis, meaning relief, refreshment, intermission.
