The worst-case scenario has materialized in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles where an estimated 1,000 structures, many of them homes, have been destroyed by a Santa Ana-wind-fueled wildfire,

Palisades Fire initially started 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. It has burned 23,448 acres after being active for 24 days. A crew of 800 firefighters managed to contain the blaze entirely by Friday evening. The fire's cause remains under investigation.
