MOSS LANDING – Some 1,200 residents were allowed to return home Friday night after they were evacuated a day earlier due to a major fire at the Vistra battery storage plant in Moss Landing.

Almost a week since the Vistra battery fire broke out, the County of Monterey had updates on the power plant's status and community concerns.

The sight of the Moss Landing battery storage facility was originally opened in 1950 as a power plant. It was one of the largest power plants on the West Coast at the time.
