Brian Belichick, the son of legendary ex-Patriots coach Bill Belichick, is departing the team after serving as the safeties coach for the past five years, multiple reports said Tuesday, as new head coach Mike Vrabel builds his staff.
On Monday, Vrabel made a number of key hires to add some experience and pedigree to his coaching staff. Former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is joining Vrabel's staff, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Marrone most recently served as the offensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints in 2023.
That included moving on from DeMarcus Covington, who served as the team's defensive coordinator in 2024. However, Covington has already found another job, as ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported Thursday that Covington is set to join the Green Bay Packers as their defensive line coach.
