Two franchise sci-fi movies had very different results in 2025.

The Ash People are led by Varang, portrayed by Oona Chaplin. Her character is expected to bring a more morally complex and darker portrayal of the Na’vi, who have previously been depicted as living in balance with nature. The film is rated PG-13 and runs for approximately three hours and 15 minutes.

The Great Flood follows a scientist and single mother, and her young son, after their apartment building is hit by a flood.

Spielberg's most recent film, "The Fabelmans," was the story of an aspiring movie director who discovers a shattering family secret. The movie, which was heavily based on Spielberg's own life, received seven Oscar nominations, including best picture.
