The potential for sleet or ice during next week’s freeze is becoming more certain as the weather forecasts for the coming days become clearer.

A freeze is expected on Sunday night into Monday morning, with partly sunny skies increasing temperatures to 40 degrees throughout the day. The beginning of next week, from Monday through Wednesday, will bring the coldest days and the best opportunity for Houston residents to see snow.

FOX 26 meteorologist Remeisha Shade takes a look at the blast of arctic air expected to come to Texas next week. The air is supposed to be the coldest that we have seen all season, with the chance for snow and ice increasing next week.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the state's power grid operator, is expected to pass its second test of the winter early next week, when another arctic front is anticipated to bring frigid temperatures to much of the state.
