SMITHFIELD FOODS INC (SFD) plans to raise $870 million in an initial public offering on Tuesday, January 28th, IPO Scoop reports. The company plans to issue 34,800,000 shares at a price of $23.00-$27.

Smithfield Foods is targeting a valuation of up to $10.73 billion in its U.S. initial public offering, the Farmland bacon maker said on Tuesday, moving closer to its much-anticipated stock market return in the country after more than a decade.

In the document registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Smithfield Foods said it would offer a total of 34.8 million shares priced in a range of $23 to $27 as it seeks a listing on the New York Stock Exchange. That equates to as much as $939.6m.
