Greg Biffle, one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers who became known in his later years for his humanitarian work, died along with three family members in a plane crash Thursday.

NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family were among those killed in the crash of a business jet Thursday, Dec. 18, at Statesville (North Carolina) Regional Airport, about 40 miles from Charlotte.

It had departed Statesville Regional Airport, about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Charlotte, but soon crashed while trying to return and land, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
