Worcester Public Schools sent a letter to families reminding them of the district's policies should any federal immigration agencies arrive at schools.

President Donald Trump has issued a “full and unconditional pardon” to Washington, DC, police lieutenant Andrew Zabavsky and officer Terence Sutton for their roles in the death of 20-year-old Karon Hylton-Brown, a case that drew protests on the heels of the murder of George Floyd.

WORCESTER ― Worcester School Superintendent Rachel Monárrez this week sent a message to faculty and families about protecting Worcester students from immigration agents, in response to policies put forth by new President Donald Trump.

Superintendent Monarrez says there have been no sightings of immigration officials or ICE at bus stops or at schools in Worcester as of Wednesday.

President Trump’s directive to allow federal immigration officials to make arrests at public schools and houses of worship, traditionally safe havens for undocumented immigrants, prompted outrage and shock among the state’s educators and religious leaders, with some vowing to protect families regardless of the federal orders.
